MADRID, 26 June 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Madrid celebrated Philippine-Spanish Friendship Day with a cultural and tourism event on 26 June 2024 at the Centro de Filipinas en España. More than 40 guests from Spain´s travel and tourism industry attended the event.
Ambassador Philippe J. Lhuillier in his welcome remarks talked about the significance of the newly established Centro which will serve as a hub for showcasing the artistic, culinary, and historical aspects of Filipino culture and tourism. He urged the Spanish guests to visit the Philippines and explore various opportunities for tourism and investments.
Mr. Adrian Esteban, the event´s Spanish guest speaker, gave an interactive and comprehensive presentation about the shared history, culture and language of Spain and the Philippines as well as an overview of the top tourism destinations the Philippines has to offer.
The fashionable creations of designer Hector Gellangarin of Filipino traditional attire were also on display in mannequins during the event. Filipino food by Banana Leaf Restaurant in Madrid were elegantly displayed for the guests to consume along with Filipino beer and rum.
The event was extremely successful and well-received with many of the guests expressing plans to travel to the Philippines soon. END
