MADRID, 30 June 2024 – The Philippine Embassy in Madrid, in coordination with the Order of the Knights of Rizal (KOR) – La Solidaridad Chapter, celebrated the 163rd Birth Anniversary of Dr. Jose Rizal and Spanish Friendship Day on 30 June 2024 at the Rizal Monument in Madrid.
The event opened with welcome remarks from KOR Vice-Commander in Madrid Florencio Aliganga.
Ambassador to Spain Philippe J. Lhuillier urged the audience in his brief remarks to look to the future with optimism and continue to draw inspiration from Rizal's unwavering commitment to freedom and justice to honor his memory and celebrate the enduring friendship between Spain and the Philippines.
Mr. Jaime González Taboada, Councilor-President of the Chamberí Municipal Board joined Ambassador Lhuillier in the ceremony. The program ended with a reading of Dr. Rizal´s “A La Juventud Filipina”. END
